Pros: Easy to set up and plenty of sections within to customize your router. I have only done the basics so far. But this, in my opinion, was worth the $$$. Thanks to the 100 off code, that saved me a bit. Cons: I tried using the app they have. Was a bit wonky as it kept looping back to login. After a while I gave up and just used the old fashion way. That got me rolling and set up in no time Overall Review: Very nice product. Lots of areas to explore to customize your set up. Also, if you want to turn off the breathing LEDs, press and hold the dragon for a few secs and vice versa to turn back on. The video I watched from Linus techtips or something said would be nice to turn these off. Well, its in the manual lol. Anyways, good deal, great purchase on my part.

Pros: Great media sharing through USB port Good 6E performance 2.5G WAN/LAN port Able to set the Tx power, I just wish it had more options other than full, half, and low. For me, at low power Tx on the 6G band, I get Rx/Tx 2162/1729 (Mbps) Easy to turn off all the LEDs 🙂 Cons: There is no way to pass the torrent client through a VPN; which makes it useless. This is why 4, not 5 eggs. 🙁 USB port does not support printers. Mediocre Wi-Fi 4/5 performance. Overall Review: I had a netgear nighthawk wifi 6 router that died; 2nd in three years. I bought a TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro and found it unusable. No web interface; and my desktop refused to connect to it when the SSID was hidden (no issue connecting with the MSI). You can’t set up the 2.4g and 5g bands separately, again not an issue with the MSI. With the $100 launch discount, I think it’s great!

Pros: – Replaced my bad stock spectrum router – Connect more than 30+ devices – fast wifi 6e – Good AI QoS – Heatpipes on router so it stays cool 24/7 Cons: – none so far Overall Review: So far so good when setting up and connect all my devices. No dropped connection while playing warzone. Before the stock router from my ISP was so bad it would drop connection randomly. But with this gaming router from MSI, it stopped.

Pros: The router works as advertised (minus port forwarding). Performance wise this was a huge upgrade for me. The speeds and range were fast and reliable. The interface was clean and easy to use. Even though it has the “gamer” aesthetic it still looks pretty good when you turn off the lights. /////////////—PLEASE READ—\\\\\\ Before you read the cons, know that I actually really like the router. I want MSI to improve and fix the issues. While I may sound overly critical, I truly want this to be constructive criticism for MSI in their customer service and end user experience. Cons: —-Port Forwarding—- The biggest con for me is the fact that port forwarding refused to work. I host game servers for my friends and it was time for an upgrade. On my old router, I had all the port forwarding set up for hosting no problem. After opening up the ports for one of my servers on the new router I tried to see if it was visible outside the network and it wasn’t. I tried everything I could think of. I got the latest firmware, checked the firewall, reserved the IP address for the server, factory reset, checked the modem settings, enabling/disabling game boost, turning on/off QoS etc. I even went as far as factory resetting my old router and tried port forwarding on that just to verify I was doing it correctly. The old router forwarded no problem. There doesn’t appear to be any setting for UPnP. Sometimes having that on has messed with forwarding in the past. Is it on by default? No clue since there isn’t a setting for it. I ended up calling their customer tech support number. I got the number off of the card that comes in the box with the router. I didn’t think I would get far but since it’s a newly released product I figured they might have had others with this issue or could at least have this issue brought to light in order to fix later. They were no help. After explaining the issue I was running into, the operator asked if I knew how to log into the router. Which I obviously knew how to do if I was talking about issues with port forwarding on their router. They said that if I already knew how to get into the router settings then there wasn’t anything they could do since I’m responsible for the settings. It was pretty clear that the operator didn’t understand what I was talking about and ended the conversation by saying that I should just return the router. The total phone call length was 10 minutes; that includes navigating the menus and being on hold for probably half that time. Response and hold time wasn’t bad at all. I just wish they were able to provide valuable information. I genuinely wanted to help get the issue fixed as I believe this is a pretty cool product and would like to see more of it. —-Internal/External Ports—- When inputting the ports that I needed to forward, I had to forward them one at a time. For the “Public port” I can input a range of ports to open (i.e. 27015-27029) but it wouldn’t allow me to input more than 5 characters in the “Private port” forcing me to manually have to open each port one at a time. Seeing this I decided to just open up the ports for one server and test so that I wouldn’t waste my time. Routers I’ve had in the past usually just have a checkbox that says “Match internal ports to external port values” or aren’t limited to 5 characters. —-Minor Gripes—- 1. When reserving an IP there is no way to just select the device you want. You have to either type it in by hand or go back and forth between the dashboard and the LAN settings to copy and paste your MAC address and IP. They do allow you to copy your own PC’s MAC address but that doesn’t help if you configuring another device on your network. 2. When port forwarding, same thing. You have to hand key or copy/paste. It would be easier to just be able to select the device from a list of available devices. It would also help with typos. 3. Saving settings can take quite a while sometimes. Some settings you have to apply, then save. If you forget to save and head to another menu, you have to do it all over again. The mistake is too easy to make. Having a pop up the states that there are unsaved settings would help prevent lost time having to re input settings. 4. Mystic Lighting. I love the lights they’re super cool. It would be great if you could adjust the lighting colors without having to download a separate program on your PC from the windows store to do so. Overall Review: As stated above I think think this is an awesome router with a great set of features. If you do not need to port forward and the features meet your needs, then this is the router for you. Most of the gripes that I had could likely be fixed with a firmware update. They will probably fix them too as this is still a new product. I also believe that the port forwarding issue will be resolved in the future. It could also just be my unit. I don’t have the ability to test multiple units to see if mine was a one off. As instructed from the MSI Customer Tech Support I will be returning this product. If MSI would like to reach out I would be more than happy to give more information or give this product another chance. For now, I can’t have downtime on my servers so I will be switching back to my old router.
