Pros: Faster than my old GT-AX11000 2.5G WAN port 10G LAN ports Cons: Unstable Guest network is not working properly New 6E is almost useless Overall Review: I’ve been waiting for this router quite some time, unfortunately it a disappointment as for now. Most serious issue is: router seems to “freeze” randomly. When it happens all LED lights are normal, and wifi networks are still available. But can’t connect to internet and Web admin page is inaccessible. I have to recycle power to get it back to work. Guest network doesn’t work properly: When I set “Access Intranet” to disabled on index 1, devices connected to such guest network can’t access to Internet! As for index 2 and 3, same settings work but devices on guest network can access Intranet! Lastly 6E is pretty much useless. I tried to connect my Galaxy S22 Ultra to 6E but it keeps dropping, then 6E network simply disappeared from available network. I really want to like this router, but as for now it’s an expensive but unreliable router. Upgraded to latest firmware but no help 3.0.0.4.386_49533

Pros: Amazing 2.4/5ghz range and speed, an improvement over my AX11000. Really fast startup times with DFS channels. WIFI 6E changes you make reboots that band by itself which is nice when you don’t want to take all clients offline. Very robust interface. Cons: Make sure you upgrade to the latest firmware as that fixes the 10 GIG AI mesh issues on both 10 gig ports. Firmware needs some improvements still but this is to be expected.. The wifi 6E band takes a while to show up on my s21/s22 ultra phones and it tends to not show up sometimes on the AI mesh node in a wired backhaul configuration. WTFast gaming is no longer free/integrated and you have to pay now which was pretty disappointing to see (unless this will get changed or is a bug maybe?). This is nowhere mentioned. Some users have reported weird upload speed issues but I’ve yet to see any issues. It supposedly it tied to the AIprotection which I never would use at all. Overall Review: This router is what I waited for when I wired my entire home with CAT6A cable in every room including the garage. The garage was one area that my previous AX-11000 struggled to get reception to. I was initially going to buy just one but thought having a wired mesh would be ideal and oh boy I was right. Now I get almost full bars even OUTSIDE of my garage/home in a 2 story townhome with concrete walls! One thing to note here is that the stock firmware would not connect the AI mesh node at 10 GBPS but only 10/100 when using the 10 GIG ports. Would work fine on the 2.5GBPS. This was fixed with the latest firmware. I am using this router with multiple TP link 10 gig 8 port and 5 port switches around my home and it is an absolute beast. WIfi 6E with my samsung S21 + S22 ultra work actually really great. The reception thru walls is not bad actually. The magic is the 5Ghz-2 band that seems to perform the best using DFS + 160 mhz channel. I am using WPA3-Personal on all bands with stock wifi settings and manually selecting ideal channels. The router also boots up and scans DFS channels much faster than my AX11000 did. I am glad I did not buy the AXE11000 as I read rumors months ago of this beast possibly coming out middle of the year. I can’t wait to see how the firmware matures and see this router get even better with improvements asus will make. There was a month delay but honestly the wait was so worth it. I can’t wait until Merlin releases the firmware for this beast!!

Pros: 4 Channels of Wifi 6E dual 10gig ports Lan Link aggregation Cons: AI Mesh saying its only working on 2.4ghz and weak signal. I even had my old router siting right next to this one and it said weak signal. Its only strong when using a lan connection. Could not find way. So further testing is needed 18watt power draw RGB gimmick. Overall Review: I love this router. Its got 2x 10gig lan ports. I have one hooked up to my NAS and the other with a Sabrent 5gig USB adapter for my Plex laptop. I get transfer speeds in the neighborhood of 350MB/s transferring a file to the NAS using the 5gig adapter. Wifi speeds on my Wifi 6 laptop were also amazing. I think it was around 250MB/s (need to retest). I remember it was much faster than I was expecting. I need to test out the AI Mesh Router. I have an old Asus RT-AX92U that I am testing as an AI mesh node. See cons. I need to check how well my NAS works connected to the node and how fast file transfers would be in a few situations with regard to the node. Overall this is the best router on the market. It is expensive though. The RGB on the top is a gimmick, and it does run warm. It draws 18watts of power. So if you need or want 10gig ports this is the one to get. Setting it up was pretty easy. Directly connect the the router with a cable and follow the prompts to set up your network. I am using 4 distinct channels rather than the blended option ASUS has that combines all the channels into one that it manages based on the devices connected. Its wifi range seems about the same as my previous routers. So its good. I have been using it for around 3 months without any issues. I am very happy with this upgrade.

Overall Review: When unboxing this bad boy you will be left in awe , this is a huge router almost twice the size of the GT11000 , wifi 6E technology , x2 10G wan/lan and 2.5G wan , unfortunately I may have received a bad unit which is at the moment being replaced by the excellent service of newegg. 1- AiMesh does not work , it will not connect to any of my RP-AX56 nor my AX110000 2- does not detect smart home devices under normal installation , had to use AP mode for each device individually minus Alexa and Google assistants 3- after testing both the 2.5G and the 10G with proper settings the LAN speeds seem to drop the next day example from 1.8 to 1.2 Otherwise this is really a monster piece of a router with an “all you can eat – UI and settings” I am hoping that the replacement will be able to solve those issues mentioned above otherwise it will be a wait period to get the proper Firmware but I guess this is what early adoption means. Will definitely update this post as soon as the replacement proves to be testing capable
